Polish nationals and foreign nationals with valid Polish resident permits have two options to apply for visa to travel to India viz.
(i) e-Visa issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India and
(ii) Regular/Paper visa issued by the Embassy of India, Warsaw
[The fees applicable for different categories of the MHA e-Visa are less than that of the regular/paper visa issued by Embassy of India, Warsaw. Please note that all queries relating to e-Visa should be addressed to the designated addressees on the e-Visa portal and not to the Embassy of India. Neither is there any facility for tracking/checking the status of an e-Visa by the Embassy of India nor can the Embassy provide any reasons for rejection of e-visa by the MHA.]
Please read the following information carefully relating to e-Visa and regular/paper visa and thereafter decide which visa application you would like to avail of.
eVisa:
India welcomes Polish tourists for a smoother visa experience without the need to submit passport and paper visa application form. From 15 August 2015, Polish nationals can travel to India with an ‘e-Visa’, an electronic travel advisory(ETA), which can be printed out at home. Thereafter, to enter India, the document may be presented at any of 33 designated Indian airports and 19 seaports to get a visa stamp on the passport.
The eVisa can be applied at https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/evisa/tvoa.html in the following categories :-
1. e-Tourist Visa
2. e-Business Visa
3. e-Conference Visa
4. e-Medical Visa and e-Medical Attendant Visa
5. e-Ayush Visa and e-Ayush Attendant Visa

Please note that the eVisa is dealt by Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India directly. Embassy of India, Warsaw does not deal with eVisa process. Regular/Paper Visa:
- If your eVisa is rejected or if you decide to submit the visa application in person in the embassy, you may apply for a paper/regular visa which is dealt by Indian Embassy, Warsaw.
- Applications from diplomatic/official passport/UN LP holders are accepted at the Consular Section from Monday to Friday between 9:30 am till 11:30 am.
- As per India-Poland bilateral agreement, Polish Diplomatic passport holders are not required visa to visit India upto 90 days. Bilateral Agreement.
General Instructions for all visa applications :-
i. Please fill the visa application form online carefully at (
https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/ ) after choosing the correct visa-category as per you purpose (mentioned below on this page).
iv. Thereafter, applicant is required to visit the embassy as per their scheduled appointment and submit the visa application along with requisite documents and valid passport and fee payment.
v.
Fee Payment -
Visa Fee is accepted by card only.
Visa application fees paid are non-refundable even if the visa is not granted or a visa with a shorter duration is issued by the Embassy.
vi. After the decision on the grant or rejection of a visa is taken, the applicant will be informed by email to collect the passport. Collection time is 4 pm on any working day.
vii. Passport should be valid for a minimum period of six months on the date of submission of visa application.
viii. If the applicant is a minor (age below 18 years), both parents and the applicant are required to be present at the Embassy at the time of application submission.
ix. For dependent family members, the dependent visa of same category should be applied e.g. in employment visa, business visa, student visa etc.
x. The decision on issuance of visa, type of visa, duration of visa, number of entries etc. is decided by the Embassy and is final.
xi. The Embassy reserves the right to ask the applicant to submit additional documents with regard to processing of the visa application. The applicant may also be called for an interview at the Embassy.

1. Tourist Visa
Purpose: Tourist Visa can be applied in case the sole objective of visiting India is recreation, sightseeing, casual visit to meet friends or relatives, attending a short term yoga programme, short duration medical treatment including treatment under Ayush systems/Indian systems of medicine, short term courses on local languages, music, dance, arts & crafts, cooking, medicine etc. which should not be a formal or structured course/ programme (courses not exceeding 6 months duration and not issued with a qualifying certificate/ diploma etc.), and voluntary work of short duration (for a maximum period of one month, which do not involve any monetary payment or consideration of any kind in return). etc. and no other purpose/ activity;
Note:- Short term yoga programme means a yoga programme not exceeding 6 months duration and not issued with a qualifying certificate/ diploma etc.
Documents required:
i. Duly filled in and signed application form to be submitted in person. Online application form can be filled at https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/ . The photo should be uploaded in the online application form as per ICAO guidelines. Also, one passport size recent photograph should be pasted on the application form.
ii. Original passport and its photocopy. If the applicant is holding passport of any other country, valid Polish TRC and its photocopy is also required. If applicant is having multiple passports of same or different country, the original and photocopy of them is also required to be submitted.
iii. Copy of visa on which the applicant has visited India previously, if applicable.
2. Business Visa
Purpose:
(i) to visit India to establish an industrial/business venture or to explore possibilities to set up an industrial/business venture, other than Proprietorship Firms and Partnership Firms, in India.
(ii) to purchase/sell industrial products or commercial products or consumer durables.
(iii) for technical meetings/discussions, attending Board meetings or general meetings for providing business services support.
(iv) for recruitment of manpower.
(v) who are partners in the business and/or functioning as Directors of the company.
(vi) for consultations regarding exhibitions or for participation in exhibitions, trade fairs, business fairs etc.
(vii) who come to transact business with suppliers/ potential suppliers at locations in India, to evaluate or monitor quality, give specifications, place orders, negotiate further supplies etc., relating to goods or services procured from India.
(viii) Foreign experts/specialists on a visit of short duration in connection with an ongoing project with the objective of monitoring the progress of the work, conducting meetings with Indian customers and/or to provide technical guidance.
(ix) for pre-sales or post-sales activity not amounting to actual execution of any contract or project.
(x) trainees of multinational companies/corporate houses coming for in-house training in the regional hubs of the concerned company located in India.
(xi) as tour conductors and travel agents and / or conducting business tours of foreigners or business relating to it, etc.
(xii) Foreign academicians/ experts coming under GIAN (Global Initiative for Academic Networks).
Note: Foreign academicians/ experts covered under (xii) above will be issued single entry Business Visa for a maximum period of one month, subject to approval. Such foreign academicians/ experts would be required to upload the following three documents along with the visa application:- (i) Invitation of the host institute to the foreign faculty (ii) Copy of the sanction order under GIAN issued by the National Coordinating Institute viz. IIT Kharagpur. (iii) Copy of the synopsis of the courses to be taken up by the faculty.
(xiii) Crew members of scheduled/ non-scheduled flights operated by scheduled airlines, non-scheduled and chartered flights operated by non-scheduled airlines and special flights.
(xiv) to participate in cultural events/ activities with remuneration. The foreign nationals intending to visit India to participate in cultural events/ activities for short duration without remuneration may apply for Entry Visa (X-Misc other categories).
(xv) Foreign nationals who are engaged in commercial sports events in India on contract (including coaches) like Indian Premier League, Indian Soccer League, Indian Badminton League etc. with remuneration. They may apply for "Business Visa - For Sports Person" with multiple entry facility for appropriate period.
In such cases, if the applicant has visited India on Employment/Business visa (Sports categories) previously, proof of Income tax return filed by the applicant is also required.
(xvi) Visiting faculty for teaching in purely private institutes.
Documents required:
i. Duly filled in and signed application form to be submitted in person. Online application form can be filled at
https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/ . The photo uploaded in the online application form as per
ICAO guidelines. One passport size photograph pasted on the application form.
ii. Original passport and its photocopy. If the applicant is holding passport of any other country, valid Polish TRC and its photocopy is also required. If applicant has multiple passports of the same or different country, the original and photocopy of them is also required to be submitted.
iii. Invitation letter from Indian partner or company with the complete information regarding the visit along with the undertaking of all the responsibilities while a foreign national stays in India; letter of invitation MUST be signed, duly stamped and addressed to the Embassy of India in Warsaw.
iv. Letter from the company where the applicant is employed with the information about. the visit to Indian company along with the undertaking of all the responsibilities while the applicant stays in India. Letter MUST be stamped and duly signed by the authorised person.
v. Registration certificate of the Indian company under the Companies Act / Proof of registration of the firm in the State industries department or the Export Promotion Council.
vi. Copy of visa(s) on which the applicant has visited India previously, if applicable.
3. Employment Visa
Purpose : Issued to persons intending to travel to India to work in a company, institution organisation, or NGO (non-governmental organisation).
Documents required
i. Duly filled in and signed application form to be submitted in person. Online application form can be filled at
https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/ . The photo uploaded in the online application form as per
ICAO guidelines. One passport size photograph pasted on the application form.
ii. Original passport and its photocopy. If the applicant is holding passport of any other country, valid Polish TRC and its photocopy is also required. If applicant has multiple passports of the same or different country, the original and photocopy of them is also required to be submitted.
iii. Letter of Appointment from Indian company.
iv. Original copy of the contract signed between two parties explicitly stating annual income.
v. Curriculum Vitae of the applicant.
vi. Documentary proof of the educational qualifications.
vii. Professional expertise certificate(s)
viii. Registration certificate of the employing Indian company under the Companies Act/Proof of registration of the firm in the State industries department or the Export Promotion Council.
ix. Copy of visa(s) on which the applicant has visited India previously, if applicable.
x. If the applicant has visited India on Employment visa previously, then documentary proof that the applicant has made compliance of Income tax i.e. Income Tax Return (ITR) and Form 16 are also required.
4. Entry Visa
(a) Entry Visa (X-1) - Entry Visa is issued to Person of Indian Origin (who does not possess an OCI card), Foreign Spouse/children of the Indian nationals/person of Indian Origin/OCI cardholder. The following documents are required for applying for visa under this category:
Documents required:
i. Duly filled in and signed application form to be submitted in person. Online application form can be filled at
https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/ . The photo should be uploaded in the online application form as per
ICAO guidelines. Also, one passport size recent photograph should be pasted on the application form.
ii. Original passport and its photocopy. If the applicant is holding passport of any other country, valid Polish TRC and its photocopy is also required. If applicant has multiple passports of the same or different country, the original and photocopy of them is also required to be submitted.
iii. Apostilled Marriage certificate and its sworn English Translation in case of spouse of Indian national/origin and its copy. Apostilled Birth Certificate with Sworn English Translation in case of child of Indian origin.
iv. Letter from the Indian national with full contact details (name, telephone number, email), copy of passport/OCI and details of parentage.
v. Copy of visa on which the applicant has visited India previously, if applicable.
(b) Entry Visa (X-2) Foreign nationals visiting India to join (a) Auroville Foundation/Sri Aurobindo Ashram, Puducherry/Missionaries of Charity, Kolkata/ similar approved organisations, temples and (b) foreign Buddhist Monks coming to join Buddhist Monasteries/other Buddhist organisations for charity work may apply for Entry Visa.
Documents required:
i. Duly filled in and signed application form to be submitted in person. Online application form can be filled at
https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/ . The photo should be uploaded in the online application form as per
ICAO guidelines. Also, one passport size recent photograph should be pasted on the application form.
ii. Original passport and its photocopy. If the applicant is holding passport of any other country, valid Polish TRC and its photocopy is also required. If applicant is having multiple passports of the same or different country, the original and photocopy of them is also required to be submitted.
iii. Invitation Letter from the organization/temple.
iv. Bank Statement of the previous year as on the date of application.
v. Copy of visa on which the applicant has visited India previously, if applicable.
5. Transit Visa
Purpose: Transit Visa is granted for the sole purpose of enabling the holder to travel through India to reach his/her ultimate destination. If the holder intends to perform some work or business in India, irrespective of the duration of his/her proposed stay, he/she should obtain a visa of appropriate category.
Documents required:
i. Duly filled in and signed application form to be submitted in person. Online application form can be filled at https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/ . The photo should be uploaded in the online application form as per ICAO guidelines. One passport size photograph should be pasted on the application form.
ii. Original passport and its photocopy. If the applicant is holding passport of any other country, valid Polish TRC and its photocopy is also required. If applicant has multiple passports of same or different country, the original and photocopy of them is also required to be submitted.
iii. Copy of air-ticket booking from India to place of final destination. In case of seaman, evidence of joining a sea vessel from the Indian port to port of final destination (in the form of letter from the shipping company
iv. Copy of the valid visa of the final destination country.
v. Copy of visa on which the applicant has visited India previously, if applicable.
Note: Transit Visa is not required if the passenger is in direct transit by air and traveling through India by the same flight and not leaving the immigration. Please check with your airlines in this regard. Foreign nationals who do not get the exact information (from the airlines regarding leaving the transit zone at airport) can also apply for either eTransit Visa or Regular/Paper Transit Visa. The issuance requires at least 2 working days.
6. Student Visa
Purpose: Foreigner intend to travel to India for purpose of higher studies, school education learning Indian classic dance, singing, playing instrument etc., student exchange programme, to join a company for internship, for a research program etc.
Documents required:
i. Duly filled in and signed application form to be submitted in person. Online application form can be filled at
https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/ . The photo should be uploaded in the online application form as per
ICAO guidelines. One passport size photograph should be pasted on the application form.
ii. Original passport and its photocopy. If the applicant is holding passport of any other country, valid Polish TRC and its photocopy is also required. If applicant has multiple passports of the same or different country, the original and photocopy of them is also required to be submitted.
iii. Letter from the university, school or Yoga Kendra (school) with the complete information about studies, total period of studies and confirmation of admission.
iv. Proof of the paid tuition fee
v. Copy of the registration certificate of the university, school, kendra or institute.
vi. Bank statement of the applicant's (or parents') bank account of last one year.
vii. Copy of visa on which the applicant has visited India previously, if applicable.
7. Journalist Visa
Purpose: Foreign nationals who are related to journalism profession i.e. journalist, cartoonist/editor, columnist, photographer, film producer/director (other than of commecial films), a representative of radio and/or television organization, travel writer/travel promotion photographer etc. are required to apply for journalist visa only regardless of whether the purpose of the visit is for tourism, business, journalism etc. If the journalist intends to attend conference/event as a delegate or panelist, he/she can apply for a Conference Visa.
Documents required:
i. Duly filled in and signed application form to be submitted in person. Online application form can be filled at
https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/ . The photo should be uploaded in the online application form as per
ICAO guidelines. One passport size photograph should be pasted on the application form.
ii. Original passport and its photocopy. If the applicant is holding passport of any other country, valid Polish TRC and its photocopy is also required. If applicant has multiple passports of the same or different country, the original and photocopy of them is also required to be submitted.
iii. If the visit is for tourism only, undertaking from the applicant is required that he/she is going for tourism only. Letter from the employer is also required stating that the applicant's visit to India is related to tourism only and not for journalism.
iv. Complete travel itinerary i.e. flight tickets (both sides), hotel booking confirmation(s), travel plan/tickets for different cities in India.
v. Copy of visa on which the applicant has visited India previously, if applicable.
8. Conference Visa
Purpose: To attend a conference, seminar, workshop etc. for short duration.
Documents required:
i. Duly filled in and signed application form to be submitted in person. Online application form can be filled at https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/ . The photo should be uploaded in the online application form as per ICAO guidelines. One passport size photograph should be pasted on the application form.
ii. Original passport and its photocopy. If the applicant is holding passport of any other country, valid Polish TRC and its photocopy is also required. If applicant has multiple passports of the same or different country, the original and photocopy of them is also required to be submitted.
iii. Invitation letter from Indian organization, company with the complete information regarding the visit, purpose of visit, along with the undertaking of all the responsibilities while a foreign national stays in India; letter of invitation must be signed, duly stamped and addressed to the Embassy of India in Warsaw.
iv. Political Clearance Letter issued by Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Government of India.
v. Event Clearance Letter issued by Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India (optional).
vi. Copy of visa(s) on which the applicant has visited India previously, if applicable.
