Visit by the Hon’ble Vice President of India, Mr. M. Hamid Ansari,

to Poland – 26-28 April 2017

At the invitation of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland, Ms. Beata Szydło, the Hon’ble Vice President of India, Mr. M. Hamid Ansari, will be paying a three-day Official Visit to Poland on 26-28 April 2017.

2. The Vice President will be accompanied by the Union Minister of State for the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Mr. Giriraj Singh. Four Members of Parliament representing both Houses will be part of the delegation.

3. During the visit, the Vice President will interact with the Polish leadership to deepen bilateral engagement, focussing primarily on strengthening economic cooperation between India and Poland. The Indian dignitary will also meet with the President of Poland, H.E. Mr. Andrzej Duda and the Marshal of the Senate, H.E. Mr. Stanisław Karczewski.

4. India and Poland have enjoyed strong civilizational bonds. Bilateral trade between the two countries has grown by 25% during 2016 reaching a level of US$2.8 billion. Indian companies have made huge investments in Poland, including in IT, with total investment estimated at US$3 billion. The Vice President is also expected to address a major business bilateral summit, along with the Prime Minister of Poland

5. The Vice President will also deliver a public lecture at the Warsaw University, and interact with Polish students and academicians, as also the large Indian community in Poland.
