First Deputy PM of Poland, Prof. Piotr Glinski, will be a key guest at the Make in India Week

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Culture & National Heritage of Poland, Prof. Piotr Glinski, will lead a high-powered official and business delegation from leading companies, to participate in the first Make in India Week in Mumbai from 13 to 15 February 2016.

Ambassador Ajay Bisaria called on Prof. Glinski for a detailed conversation on Monday, to identify the focus areas of the visit. Prof. Glinski said he was looking forward to his visit, to boost both economic and cultural engagement with India.

The Make in India Week will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It will showcase the people, policies and partnerships that are driving India’s new manufacturing revolution. The event will offer foreign investors and businesses unprecedented access, insights and opportunities to showcase, connect and collaborate with Indian and global industry leaders/visionaries, academicians, and government officials at the central and state levels.

On the margins of the event, Prof. Glinski is scheduled to have bilateral discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and other important Central and State-level leaders. He will also have extensive business interactions, including with key players in Indian industry.

A fresh dynamism in economic relations between India and Poland has been in evidence lately. Trade and investment cooperation between the two countries is at an all-time high. Bilateral trade in 2015 was US$ 2.2 billion. During the fourth session of the India – Poland Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation held in Warsaw, both sides set an ambitious trade target of US$ 5 billion by 2018. The visit is expected to give a significant boost to the wide-ranging economic partnership between the two countries, particularly in areas covered by India’s flagship programmes like – Make in India, Skill India, Digital India and Clean India.
