Fifth Meeting of the Board of Trustees India Development Foundation of Overseas Indians 05 December 2015
The Fifth Meeting of the Board of Trustees, the second this year, of India Development Foundation of Overseas Indians (IDF-OI) was held on December 05, 2015 in New Delhi. The meeting was chaired by the Hon’ble Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs, Smt. Sushma Swaraj. The Board reviewed the progress made by IDF-OI on the revised mandate given in the last Board Meeting in May 23, 2015 i.e. to promote the flagship programmes of Government of India - Swachh Bharat Mission and National Mission for Clean Ganga; projects identified by State Govts; and donor advised projects.
To strengthen and deepen the relationship with Indian Diaspora, IDF-OI conducted an outreach in UAE in which many Overseas Indians committed to the Swachh Bharat Mission. The Board welcomed IDF-OI’s outreach initiatives and
suggested that the next outreach events may be held in Qatar and UK.
In the forthcoming Pravasi Bhartiya Divas Conference 2016, there will be a session on facilitating contributions by Overseas Indians through IDF-OI.
The Board Meeting was attended by prominent Indians and NRIs Shri Yusuff Ali, Shri Subhash Jindal, Dr. B.K. Agnihotri, Shri Ashok Chowgule, Ms. Ritu Beri and Dr. Bindeshwar Pathak. Senior Officials from Ministries of Home Affairs, External Affairs, NITI Aayog and Finance were also present.
