India’s External Affairs Minister congratulates new Polish FM

The External Affairs Minister of India, Ms. Sushma Swaraj has congratulated the newly appointed Polish Foreign Minister, Mr Witold Waszczykowski. Ms Swaraj said in a message that India and Poland have enjoyed more than six decades of close and friendly relations which are underscored by shared values of democracy. Vibrant economic engagement and deep-rooted cultural linkages have further grown in recent times between the two countries. She reaffirmed India’s commitment to work towards strengthening and deepening bilateral relations. Ms Swaraj added that she looked forward to working closely with Mr Waszczykowski in this endeavour. Bilateral relations between India and Poland have been on an upward trajectory. Poland is India’s largest trade partner and export destination in Central Europe. Bilateral trade has grown almost seven times over the last ten years, to reach a level of US$2.3 billion in 2014. The two sides have targetted a trade level of US$ 5 billion by 2018. Poland has launched a ‘Go India’ scheme in response to the ‘Make in India’ campaign launched by India.
