Press Release: Celebration of ITEC Day, 14 March 2024 

The Embassy of India celebrated ITEC Day on 14 March 2024 to mark 59 years of the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation Programme since its institution on 15 September 1964. Linkages through other collaborative partnerships between India and Poland including ICCR Scholarship Schemes for students who go to study in India, diplomatic skill development programmes for Polish diplomats & officials organized by the Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service were renewed on ITEC Day. The contribution of Indian teachers towards knowledge and skill development of the Polish in Poland was also acknowledged on ITEC Day. 

2. In her address, Ambassador Nagma M. Mallick referred to how India’s early experience, inter alia, in agricultural production, pedagogy & scientific training led to the launch of the ITEC Programme. She added that the ITEC Programme took pride in having trained than 225,000 beneficiaries in over 160 partner countries in Asia, Africa, East Europe, Latin America, the Caribbean as well as Pacific and Small Island countries. 

3. The Mission screened a video clip recorded by Ms. Kinga Gajewska, Member of Parliament of Poland wherein she recounted memories of her participation in the Generation Next Democratic Network Programme organized by ICCR. Dr. Sebastian Schab, ITEC alumnus of 2023 recalled his ITEC training experience and Prof. Monika Browarczyk,

Vishwa Hindi Samman Award recipient shared her elements of her participation in the ICCR Knowledge India International Convention. 

4. The ITEC Day cultural programme included ‘Tarana’, a solo Kathak performance by Ragini Nagar, Kathak dance teacher of the Embassy followed by a group choreography composition performed by her Polish students. After the conclusion of the formal part of the programme, all attendees were invited to exchange their ‘India experiences’ over a dinner with Indian cuisine.
