About Us History - India House

India House is classified as a "heritage" monument by the Conservator of Monuments. Over two hundred years ago, the area on which the Embassy Residence is located formed part of the Great Rose Gardens of Warsaw. Hence the name of the street Aleja Roz,or Street of Roses.

The building was designed by a well-known Polish architect towards the end of the 19th century. The damage caused to it in World War II was repaired without altering its distinctive architectural features.
