India’s History in Architecture – Monuments and Churches of India
– an exhibition of paintings & photographs – first event in Warsaw to celebrate
75 years of India’s Independence
India will celebrate 75 years of Independence in the year 2022. This proud milestone will be celebrated in Poland, as it will be in every country in the world and in India with joy, reflection and pride. The Government of India is celebrating this milestone under the name Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, which can be roughly translated as the Blessed Celebration of India’s Independence, over the course of 2022 and the first half of 2023. We will look back with pride at what we have achieved and will also look forward with hope to realising our just aspirations.
The Embassy of India in Poland will celebrate this important milestone in our nation’s journey in Poland over the course of the year ahead with many events of a diverse nature. The first major event in Poland will be an exhibition of oil paintings and photographs entitled India’s History in Architecture – Monuments and Churches of India. It will consist of a display of 25 oil paintings of selected Indian monuments from the ancient period to the modern by Kashinath Das, an eminent Indian artist, and of 25 photographs of selected churches of Goa, India, photographed by Benoy Behl, a celebrated photographer of monuments. The array of architectural styles, the materials used and the different purposes for which the monuments were built – temples, mausoleums, mosques, forts and finally stone buildings that seat the Government of India till today – are a visual display of the sweep of India’s history. The photographs of churches attest to the longstanding tradition of tolerance in the Indian civilization and to the rich diversity that makes India probably the most diverse country in the world.

75-lecia Niepodległości Indii
W 2022 r. Indie będą świętować 75-lecie Niepodległości. Pełne radości, refleksji i dumy obchody tej ważnej rocznicy będą miały miejsce w Indiach, ale również Polsce, jak
i w innych państwach świata. Rząd Indii będzie świętował rocznicę tego przełomowego wydarzenia pod hasłem Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, co można przetłumaczyć jako Święte Obchody Niepodległości Indii, w ciągu 2022 oraz w pierwszej połowie 2023 roku. Będziemy z dumą spoglądać wstecz na to, co osiągnęliśmy, a także z nadzieją patrzeć
w przyszłość, by zrealizować nasze słuszne aspiracje.
Ambasada Indii w Polsce będzie świętować tę ważną rocznicę w historii naszego narodu w Polsce w ciągu całego roku podczas różnych wydarzeń. Pierwszym znaczącym wydarzeniem w Polsce będzie wystawa obrazów olejnych oraz fotografii zatytułowana Historia Indii w Architekturze – Zabytki i Kościoły Indii. W jej skład wchodzić będzie 25 obrazów olejnych autorstwa Kashinath Das, znanego indyjskiego artysty, przedstawiających zabytki indyjskie z okresu od antyku do czasów współczesnych oraz 25 fotografii wybranych kościołów w Goa w Indiach wykonanych przez Benoy Behla, cenionego fotografa zabytków. Feeria stylów architektonicznych, wykorzystanych materiałów oraz mnogość zastosowań i celów, w jakich zostały wzniesione budowle – świątynie, mauzolea, meczety, forty, a także kamienne budynki, w których do dnia dzisiejszego urzęduje Rząd Indii – tworzą wizualną opowieść o historii Indii. Fotografie kościołów są świadectwem długiej tradycji tolerancji cywilizacji Indii, jak i bogatej różnorodności, która czyni Indie tak wyjątkowym krajem na świecie.
Wystawa będzie otwarta w dniach od 1 do 9 marca 2022 r. w Starej Oranżerii
w Łazienkach Królewskich w Warszawie.
