Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India in collaboration with Union Ministries and State Governments has launched Nationwide ‘Paryatan Parv’ to showcase cultural diversity of country and reinforce the principle of ‘Tourism for All’. Its objective is to draw focus on the benefits of tourism. The celebrations will run from 5th to 25th October, 2017 across several cities and iconic tourism destinations in India. Throughout these 20 days, the ‘ParyatanParv’ will give an opportunity for the citizens of the country to explore the cultural heritage and enjoy the diverse cuisine, cultural programmes, music, theatre, etc.

2.  Vide this initiative, Ministry of Tourism, GOI, wishes to target the 25 million Indian overseas community to act as tourism Ambassadors of India, in their respective host countries. The various component of the event are :-

Dekho Apna Desh: It will encourage Indians to visit their own country. It will include video, photograph and blog competitions visited during event, stories of India through Travelers’ Eyes to promote travel to J&K and North Eastern states.

Tourism for All: It will promote tourism events at sites across all States in country. These will mainly be People’s events with large scale public participation. The activities at these sites will include Cultural Programmes of Dance, Music, Theatre, Tourism Exhibitions showcasing culture, cuisine and handicrafts and handlooms etc.

Tourism & Governance: It will have interactive sessions and workshops with stakeholders on varied themes like Skill Development in Tourism Sector, Innovation in Tourism, inducting Ex-servicemen as service providers for Taxi Operation and Developing Rural Tourism in locations near established destinations.

3. The Parv will be inaugurated at the Humayun’s Tomb on 5th October 2017. Heritage Walks are being organized at the monument from 8 AM to 4 PM along with a Painting Competition for students. The formal inauguration of the event will be held at 5:30 PM at the venue which will include a cultural programme with Meera Bhajans by Vidya Shah and Dastan-e-Amir Khusrau presented by Dr. Syeda Hameed, Zakia Zaheer & Rene Singh.

4.The Paryatan Parv will culminate in a 3 day event in New Delhi from the 23rd to 25th October 2017 which will showcase the cultural diversity of the country, with cultural performances, crafts bazaar, food court showcasing folk and classical dance & music, handicrafts & handlooms and cuisine from all regions and States of the country.

People of Indian origin/PIO card holder are encouraged to avail this opportunity to visit India.
