ADVISORY

Last date for conversion of PIO card into OCI card

With effect from 1 January 2015, all Person of Indian Origin (PIO) are deemed to be Overseas Citizen of India (OCI). All PIO card holders thus need to convert their PIO cards into OCI cards. The deadline for this conversion is: 30 June 2017.

All PIO cards holders are advised to get the PIO cards converted into OCI cards, before 30 June 2017, as PIO cards will no longer be valid after this date.

Conversion to OCI cards would not require additional documentation; it would require the following:

(a) A copy of valid PIO card; and,

(b) A copy of current valid passport.

Holders of PIO cards may kindly approach this Embassy any working day from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. We will promptly exchange these for OCI cards.
