There are important Indian investments in countries stretching from Oman and Saudi Arabia to Egypt, Sudan and beyond. There have been cultural ties with the region throughout history. Given the high priority attached by the Government of India to socio-economic development, India has a vital stake in a supportive external environment both in our region and globally. India and Lithuania
Embassy of India, Warsaw***Lithuania: Bilateral Brief
I Historical Background
It is widely acknowledged that the Lithuanian and Sanskrit languages have much in common. Lithuanian, being the Indo-European language grammatically closest to Sanskrit, signifies possible close ancient links. Experts suggest that more than 100 root words (and 10,000 derivatives) may be common between the two languages. Until conversion to Christianity in 13th century, the people in Lithuania worshipped nature and had a trinity of gods - Perkunas, Patrimpas, and Pikuolis.
In more recent times, the first direct knowledge about India reached Lithuania through Lithuanian Christian missionaries who started serving in India since the 16th century. A prominent Lithuanian philosopher and ideologue of the 19th century national movement, Vydunas (real name Vilhelmas Storost, 1868-1953; also known as the Mahatma Gandhi of Lithuania) was extremely interested in Indian philosophy and he even created his own philosophi…

History - India House
India House is classified as a "heritage" monument by the Conservator of Monuments. Over two hundred years ago, the area on which the Embassy Residence is located formed part of the Great Rose Gardens of Warsaw. Hence the name of the street Aleja Roz,or Street of Roses.
The building was designed by a well-known Polish architect towards the end of the 19th century. The damage caused to it in World War II was repaired without altering its distinctive architectural features.

Advisory for Indian business community
Beware of Amended Payment Instructions
The Embassy of India has learnt that several Indian companies and their trade partners have been victims of cyber crimes resulting in fraudulent transfer of their funds to fake bank accounts in Poland. The hackers are interceding in e-mail correspondence between trade partners, inserting fake emails to Indian companies, asking them to transfer funds to some accounts in Polish banks, citing problems in current bank accounts.
All Indian businessmen and potential investors are, therefore, advised to exercise caution and make inquiries before making any payments to their trade partners and also to the exporters/importers that they are dealing with.
Even in the case of e-mail requests from the partner companies for making advance payments for goods sold, companies are advised to ensure by phone and other channels that the email received is from the genuine partner company.
The Embassy has strongly taken up these cyber crime cases wi…

Message from Ambassador
India is resolutely on the path to sustained economic growth. Our new Government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is committed to a pragmatic, incremental and unflinching approach to reforming the Indian economy and making it easier to invest and manufacture across India. According to a recent report in ‘The Economist, while other emerging markets may be slowing down, India ‘’can take wing and become the global economy’s high flyer’’.
India’s new Government came to power in May 2014, with a strong mandate for change, growth and jobs. Major economic reforms are on its agenda. Already, 14 regulatory systems have been merged into one to ease doing business. ‘’Plug and Play’’ in infrastructure investment and visa on arrival for 150 countries, will make it easier for global investors to land in India and find ready-to-go projects in our states. With dedicated infrastructure vehicles, a big boost to infrastructure is on the anvil. New flagships programmes like ‘’Make in India’’, Smart …

Sectors of Cooperation
Textile Sector: Textile continues to be the largest segment in the Indian exports to Poland. Polish Imports of textiles and textile articles from India have grown to US$ 645 mn in 2023 marking an substantial growth over the last decade. However, there exists much potential to enhance our exports in the textiles sector provided conducive environment is created for Indian exporters.
Pharmaceutical and chemicals Sector: Chemical Industry is a major sector of Polish economy and Poland is a net importer of chemicals. Chemical products figures in top 5 exports items from India to Poland with organic chemicals taking the lead. Given Poland’s strategic location, shortages in health care personnel and around 25% growth in pharma market in last 5 years, there are good opportunities for Indian exporters and investors. OTC drugs, food supplements and generic drugs are particular areas of opportunities. Poland is largely dependent on India for active substances for critical medicines and imports…

Advisory for Indian students desirous of pursuing medical studies abroad
“Advisory/Information for students desirous of Pursuing Medical Studies abroad”
Over the years, there has been an increase in the number of Indian students going abroad to pursue medical education. Earlier, all students interested in taking a medical qualification from outside India were required to get an eligibility certificate from the government before leaving for their studies. However, since 2019, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has made mandatory for the students to clear the NEET-UG (National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test-Under Graduate) exam, which is the entry examination for undergraduate medical education in India, as a prerequisite to pursue medical education abroad.
2. Beginning 2019, only those students who appear for the NEET-UG for admission to Undergraduate medical education in India will be eligible to appear for the screening test, namely, the Foreign Medical Graduates’ Exam (FMGE). This step has been an important advancement in screening of students …

Passport Surrender Certificate
The Ministry of External Affairs has conveyed instructions regarding the consular services for renunciation of Indian citizenship and surrender of Indian Passport upon acquiring foreign nationality.
It may be noted that the renunciation of Indian citizenship under Section 8(1) of the Citizenship Act 1955 and the surrender of Indian Passport under the provision of the Passports Act 1967 are two different services, which are governed by two different laws.
Foreign nationals of Indian origin who have already acquired citizenship of any other country are not eligible to renounce their citizenship, as their citizenship has already been terminated under Section 9 of the Citizenship Act 1955. Only in certain cases, the citizenship of minor children of foreign nationals of Indian origin is not affected under Section 8(2) of the Citizenship Act.

About India
It is impossible not to be astonished by India’s incredible diversity. Nowhere on Earth does humanity present itself in such a dizzying, creative burst of cultures and religions, races and languages. Every aspect of the country presents itself on a massive, exaggerated scale, worthy in comparison only to the superlative mountains that overshadow it. Perhaps the only thing more difficult than to be indifferent to India would be to describe or understand India completely.
Location, Geography, & Climate
Set apart from the rest of Asia by the supreme continental wall of the Himalayas, the Indian subcontinent touches three large bodies of water and is immediately recognizable on any world map. This thick, roughly triangular peninsula defines the Bay of Bengal to the east, the Arabian sea to the west, and the India Ocean to the south.
India's 29 states holds virtually every kind of landscape imaginable. An abundance of mountain ranges and national parks provide ample opportunity f…

About Yoga
YOGA
The concepts and practices of Yoga originated in India about several thousand years ago. Its founders were great Saints and Sages. The great Yogis presented rational interpretation of their experiences of Yoga and brought about a practical and scientifically sound method within every one’s reach. Yoga today, is no longer restricted to hermits, saints, and sages; it has entered into our everyday lives and has aroused a worldwide awakening and acceptance in the last few decades. The science of Yoga and its techniques have now been reoriented to suit modern sociological needs and lifestyles. Experts of various branches of medicine including modern medical sciences are realizing the role of these techniques in the prevention and mitigation of diseases and promotion of health.
Yoga is one of the six systems of Vedic philosophy. Maharishi Patanjali, rightly called "The Father of Yoga" compiled and refined various aspects of Yoga systematically in his "Yoga Sutras" (aphorisms). H…

About Ayurveda
AYURVEDA
The word Ayurveda derived from AYU and VEDA. AYU means life VEDA means science or knowledge. Ayurveda means the science of life. Charaka defines "That science is designated as Ayurveda which deals with advantage and disadvantage as well as happy and unhappy states of life along with what is good and bad for life, its measurement and the life itself (Charaka Sutra 1 - 4)" Ayurveda embraces all living things, human and Non-human. It is divided into three main branches viz., Nara Ayurveda dealing with human life, Satva Ayurveda the science dealing with animal life and its diseases, Vriksha Ayurveda the science dealing with plant life, its growth and diseases. It is amply clear that Ayurveda is not only a system of medicine but also a way of life for complete positive health and spiritual attainments.
Ayurveda believes that positive health is the basis for attaining four cherished goals of life (chaturvidh purushartha) viz., Dharma, Artha, Kama, Moksha. All these four goal…

Make in India Campaign
Untitled Document
Launched by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on 25 September 2014, the Make in India campaign involves the introduction of policy directives that are aimed at supporting the three essential requisites for transforming the manufacturing sector in India. These include; (i) Improving the business environment – through de-licensing & deregulation and increasing the ease of doing business in India; (ii) Enabling manufacturing – through special focus on industrial corridors and clusters, development of smart cities, innovative approaches, upgrading of industrial infrastructure and skill development; and (iii) Opening up FDI in key sectors - such as defense, construction and railways. The program represents an attitudinal shift in how India relates to investors: not as a permit-issuing authority, but as a true business partner.
