Advisory for Indian Students

Back | Print

Embassy of India

The Embassy has received a few complaints from Indian students/ professionals intimating fraudulent telephone calls received by them purportedly from Ministry of Foreign Affairs Warsaw, Poland (+48225239000). The caller usually states that there was some mistake in date of birth of the applicant in the application or some similar excuse. The caller then gives a fake complaint reference number and asks the victim to transfer money through Western Union/Moneygram.

The Embassy would like to advise Indian students/professionals working in Poland to beware of these fraud calls and do not make any payment to these fraudsters. Further, the Embassy would advise that there is no need to panic or to pay heed to such mischievous calls. We would also request recipients of such calls to note the caller numbers and to report to the Indian Embassy immediately, with all relevant details to &

We would once again request all Indian nationals not to transfer any money towards penalty/fine through Western Union/Moneygram or any other unrecognized banking channel.

All are requested to circulate the Advisory amongst their friends and colleagues under the Indian community.
